Bird Poop From Hell
Yesterday was a perfect beach day, so I decided to hit up Tybee Island beach with some friends. Of course I drove, top down, enjoying the beautiful day. Everything went great until I walked back to the car and find that the row that my car is sitting in is filled with Sea Gulls. I shit you not, there was no less than 60 sea gulls. I'm already freaking out cause I'm afraid they'll hang out long enough to $hit on the S. As I approach my car I see two old ladies (75-80) feeding sea gulls from an entire bag of bread!!! I jump in my car and haul @ss outta there before they start dropping....and I thought I made it out until I hear a loud thud...I couldn't see it so I thought it was a car near me. After I get home, I get out and I see a dropping the size of my fist on the top of my rear quarter panel (How does a bird bird drop something like that and doesn't explode?). I immediately try to clean it off but it was dried on so it took some force to get it off with the QD I had in my trunk. After I clean off the droppings, I find several deep scratches....most likely due to me trying to scrape it off and there is probably sand in sea gull dropping. It was dark so I just said f-it and went inside. I inspected the paint again during lunch and I see several scratches that may have penetrated the clear coat. I'm hoping some x3 by hand will fix it

yup- you found out that birds eat sand... they do that for their digestive process.
so you gotta be really careful lifting off bird poo- you did the right thing by getting it off quickly, cause it also contains acids which can etch your paint.
your solution now is, as you suggested, a polish job.
feel your pain- but you will be able to fix this.
