The best I have used is P21S gel, the second best is the blackfire gel cleaner, 3rd best is Griots (although it is almost too gentle.)
After you clean them really good, dry them off, and take a paper towel and get all of the grit off as much as possible. Then buy some cheap spray on wax from Pep boys, (I use Eagle One nanowax) and spray and wipe. Put on a few coats of it.
The next time you wash your wheels most of the grit will come off when you hit it with a hose, then use a brush and dry and paper towel and some more wax. This has proven to be the best method for keeping my wheels as clean as I can, There just aren't any products that are going to work like paint wax on wheels since they get so hot. Zaino works well on wheels as well, but it just melts off after a few weeks too.
