Been using 303 on the top, water doesn't seem to bead much?
I've probably applied 303 protectant on the convertible top maybe 4 times in the last 6 months. I've also used the 303 vinyl/fabric cleaner once about 2-3 months ago. When I wash my car I don't apply car wash to the top, usually I'll spray it with clean water if it's dusty or not at all. Water never seems to bead on the surface, do you find that to be the case too? Guess we get rain fairly often so maybe the 303 is being washed off. Anyone recommend something that is more water-resistant?

It's never going to bead like scotchgard on cloth. I find it beads only on light rain, if you spray it with a nozzle it will wet. The 303 is somewhat water soluble, which is a good thing so that it doesn't build up too badly. But it leaves streaks when it gets wet. Do like me, don't drive in the rain
Rain isn't going to hurt your top, the sun and dirt will. 303 works well to do both, I've never cleaned my top, just spray off with water.

I always clean my top with 303 cleaner and LET THE TOP DRY COMPLETELY (over night). Then I apply the 303 Protectant and let THAT dry completely. The water always beads up for me. I don't know if Vinylex is as good a UV protectant as 303 is supposed to be.

Vinylex has UV-60 which is about the same sun protection as you get with the 303. I use Vinylex in the interior of my car but I use 303 on the top. Water definately will not bead like it does on your paint (at least that is my experience), but it will definately bead. Since you are in seattle, you may need to apply the 303 more often. I do notice that it washes off quite easily. Personally, I find it annoying that I have to wash all of my windows after it rains. The good news is that usually you don't have to worry about UV damage when it is always raining. The bad news is that you have to fight mold from growing in/on the textured surface.

Thanks for confirming that 303 doesn't bead all that much. When it rains here, I just dislike seeing how my paint beads like crazy but the top just looks wet without tiny beads. OK I'll give Vinylex a try. Anyway I'll happy with 303's matte finish on the interior panels and will continue using it. Too bad about 303's slightly funky smell, eh?
