I get the same thing, but also from family and my g/f.

"Your car is clean, why would you need to wash it"

Or I'll tell my girlfriend that I need to clean my car because its dirty, and she says "Yeah right." She is also one who thinks the rain cleans a car, where I feel (as well as everyone here) that rain makes my car dirty.

S2kMarkus: So no issues with keeping the top down all the time? Top still in good condition, mechanical stuff all ok?

Just don't wash the car with the top down. You can do it without getting the interior wet if you're careful, but water gets down in the top well and the cover keeps the top wet for weeks. That's a certain formula for mold, mildew, etc.

back from my visit to the main board-

so i posted up the question as to whether top down all the time is bad on the motor...
i also asked whether anyone has every heard of anyone with top motor problems-
the answers were that no one has ever even heard of top motor problems-
some guys put their top up and down several times a day and others were like us who put it up a few times a year...

plenty of wackos on this thread, and its goooood to be home!!

I already asked a similar question but regarding the Top: Do you spray anything particular on the rubber siding that keeps the small squeeks out when the top goes up?

I know you mentioned that grease stuff but was there anything else that you use as an alternative.

best, by far, is shin etsu grease...

next best would be any rubber protectant- most vinyl protectants work too... like 303 or vinylex
