bad to keep my top down always?
Hey Wanabe,
just a quick question: I have been keeping my top down too with my tonneau cover on. Is it bad for it to be in the down position all the time?
----------
i pulled this out of another thread- great question that i have not seen before. it deserves its own thread!

prob not bad on the material... but the mechanism needs to work out once in a while.
i put mine up when i wash the car- also gives the top a chance to stretch out.
the cover does a great job of keeping the top like new- all except the mechanism, which needs some movement-
i know that there are a few of us who are top down always... we need our own badge- its a special type of wacko!!

LOL. Yeah another badge!! You need to make one Wanabe!
I put my tonneau cover on for the first time and have not attempted to take it off yet so that is why I haven't been putting the top up. I don't usually drive my car when it is raining.

check out whats missing:

I took the wipers off my integra when I was re-spraying the wiper arm black again and it looks so clean, as does the S. I would love to take mine off and have the S as a "nice day only" car. But then I'd remove the soft top and motors as well.
Back on topic: just put the top up and down a couple times a week and you should be fine.

I usually only drive with the top down, unless my GF gets too cold. But I always put the top up when I'm not driving. In the garage...parked...etc. I think it'll probably wear out the window a little more, but I just can't get myself to leave it down when I'm not around it.

Your car is only washed 4 or 5 times a year!?! Quick somebody call s2k services so we can get this little guy to a car wash home!
the car is detail sprayed at least once a week, and usually more often . it lives under a car cover and is driven less than 4k miles a year.
when it is detailed, it usually looks clean-
i always get neighbors asking why i am washing it...
the interior also gets "quick cleans" often-
