Applying wax how often ?
I think I was guilty of over waxing/polishing my last car and now that I recently purchased a new S2000 I wanted others opinions on how often they wax/polish their cars.
Mine is in arizona and will be in the sunlight during the work day.
Thanks,

watchdogd- welcome to the car and the board!!
depends on whether you really mean wax or whether you mean synthetic... also depends on which wax if you mean wax. different products use different amounts of carnuba.
for an average for a car sitting in the sun in arizona, carnubas would not last very long (less than a month)- especially in the summer. easy to extend this with a car cover.
no matter what, a car that lives in heat is prob better off with a synthetic. and if you want to be like some of us real wackos, you can do both! (the carnuba goes over the synthetic as a last step)
synthetics with carnuba over and a car cover will go for several months-

Guess I should have also asked which car cover did you buy ? Did you get the OEM from the Dealer or a different one.
Thanks for the recommendation on waxes. When I go to wax mine I'll try zaino.

wanabe, what do you do when you need to add another layer of Z2 or Z5? Do you need to do the whole process over again starting with Dawn, or some other method. thanks

first step is wash
second step is inspect and determine the third step!!
if the paint is in good shape, you can just add on another coat-
if its not, then you have to determine whether its a clay or polish (or both) solution- if its rough but no swirls then its clay. if its swirled but smooth, its polish. if its rough and swirled, its both!!
i only dawn a car once- the first time it gets detailed. if its a new car, then i never dawn it (unless i think that the dealer might have put something on- very rare).
from that point on (rest of its life!), i know whats on the car and do not need to dawn it. polishing or claying will remove enough of the zaino so it doesnt usually need to be stripped (i never have had to).
