Default Applying polish by hand

I'm completely new at detailing my car. I'm getting better over the last year but still I'm lost on how to apply the polish by hand. Unfortunately with staying with my friend I have to park my car on the street where sprinklers hit it each night. MOST nights I'll go out there and cover the car with a car cover but then there's the times I forget. I don't have the worst water spots by any means just a few and adding up. I'm going to completely detail my car this Saturday but just need some help with applying the polish. Hoping to get the spots out with the polish.

For the questions. Does it matter what I use to apply the polish with? I went to my local store and just picked up some regular applicators similar to what comes with turtle wax. I have a Meguiar polish, once home I'll type up the exact one I have. Also I know it doesn't help without knowing the polish I have but how much muscle do I have to put behind the applicator when applying the polish?

I came across this on detailers domain. Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound. It seems like it is safe to use for a noob like myself without having to worry about ruining the paint. Here's the link http://www.detailersdomain.com/Megui...und_p_304.html.

I would rather pay someone else to polish it for me than do it by hand.

I figure I have all the products so why not. I did detail the car last weekend and I'm proud to say with a little elbow grease I got 95 percent of the water spots out of my paint. It wasn't really bad to start off with just annoyed.

a lot of these polishes need a lot of work to break down and do their job. Using your hands might not only take forever, but might not be allowing the compounds to break down properly.

Invest in a porter cable.

if you like the looks of hand polishing, you'll be blown away by machine polishing

Don't bother doing it by hand. Save yourself the frustration and time and get a porter cable

You won't mess your finish with a porter cable. It's almost impossible
