AP1 2003 OEM WHEELS.. WHAT KIND OF POLISH?
Hey guys, I was told you guys here are the detailing gurus, so I came to you for some knowledge.
Currently I have OEM 2003 AP1 wheels, in great condition.
My question:
Is it safe to use the Mothers Mag&Aluminum Wheel polish on these rims?
It seems every time I use it the wheels shine so much better, the only thing is on the back of the container it says
"will not scrath metal surfaces. not recommended for gold plating, chrome, anodized, painted or coated metals.
so it seems like it contradicts it self... I am lost... help?

first step is inspection...
from inspection you want to determine whether they are micro marred (scratched), swirled, or just plain old dirty.
if just dirty, you can wash them with a good wheel brush and car shampoo (or p21s makes a great safe wheel cleaner)- then wax, wheel wax, or synthetic them. i put finish first covered by wheel wax on mine the last time it did them.
if they have swirls and you really want to polish them, then you would use a polish that is like a swirl remover. then you would protect them as above...
best way to do this is off the car!

he does have it laying on the hose... some protection, but i wouldn't do it!!
i only do this when the hose is under full pressure (gives good cushion) and when i know that the wheels have no lip- or protrusion.
i also use carpets- but i like the hose when the wheels will allow it, like the ssrs. and yes, you still have to be careful! and your note is a good reminder... the wheels can be scratched easily if you are not really careful.
