Anyone done battle with these and succeeded?

this may be an "off the wall" suggestion but what about using
-something like a SOS with a mild solvent
-a dremel tool with the "finest " of grade attachment ?
-mild grade of wet sandpaper ?
-aluminum polish ?
or taking the rims to a Wheel & Tire established and see what they coin the term as needing your rims "machined" ?
just some food for thought ?

AguilaEagle , do you really think I can?
I really dont think this falls under the "grime that can come off with sprays and elbow grease" category.
This is either below the surface or corrosion or something. My car is a 2001 with 15,000 miles on it...... what gives?

I believe I had similar problems on my wheels due to neglect. I finally tried a very mild scrubing paste. It clean it right up. I know I may hurt the clear coat on the wheel with the mild abrasive, but I did put a coat of wax on immediately afterwards. I am not able to appreciate any damage from the mild abrasive cream.
