My car isn't a garage queen so I have plenty of stone chips. I have filled and sanded some, but the paint doesn't match and is too thin.
I have some other little rock chips in weird areas but the car has 36,000 mile on it. Some are expected. I did the hood of one of our site mods this past weekend. He has a black 05 and his is a lot more chipped than mine. When the black chips it exposes the gray primer or aluminum hood. It looks horrible.
There's no magic to keeping a car in good shape. It just takes time and effort. I have a million products that all seem to do a good job. The advantages from one car care boutique product to another is minimal anymore.
I simply wash with a foam gun and my old sheepskin wash mitts.
I dry with a waffle weave towel after using the waterfall rinse method.
I do a major polish every few years and live with the little stuff in between. I use a RO and a Rotary. I use wool and foam.
I use a synthetic sealant base topped with a frankenauba I made from my stock of other carnauba.
i use and assortment of MF towels including $8 a piece DF towels to cheapo Target towels.
I apply a a synthetic a few times a year and wax at least once a month.
I use 303 on all the vinyl and rubber pieces, even the tires.
I use Townsend leather cleaner and their seperate protectant.
I use a ton of detail spray. I detail spray it every day that I drive it.

Rich, that engine bay looks so bare! Someone asked how he keeps his car so fresh-looking. I'm guessing his answer will be 'time and effort'. When I bought some wheels from Rich, he told me that he would wipe them down after EVERY drive. And I believe it, the wheels are several years old but look like the day they rolled off the line. Hope you stick around the boards and the community, even if its with a pushrod & buggyspring mobile.

Excellent results can be attained by using those same quality products with a little extra effort, attention to detail, and a million wackos to keep you going back for more.
That's a great color. You should keep it for 6 more.
