About to Zaino 4 the first time Just some last minute ?'s
I just washed the car very good with Dawn soap. And then I used 3M swirl remover with an orbital buffer. Im going to be using Zaino ZFX, Z2, and Z6. My question is, do I have to re-wash the car with Dawn to remove the 3M swirl remover?????
My other ? is when I apply the Z2 (mixed w/ZFX) do I put the Z6 gloss enhancer right on top of the Z2, or do I wipe the Z2 off then do a coat of Z6????
Finally my car has always been kept in the garage and never driven in the rain so do I really need to clay my car first???? If so should I have used the clay B-4 I used the 3M???
Any other tips would be great.
Thanks a lot
Kenny

i wouldn't think the swirl remover contains any carnauba but i would either spray it down with a 50/ 50 mix of alcohol / water or wash it again.
as for the Z6. wait for the Z2 to cure (about 30 minutes) then remove the Z2 with either a MF towel or cotton towel and then spray the z6 (use sparingly )
I would clay the car - even though you car is kept in a garaged you'd be surprised how much embedded stuff sticks to the paint. there's a little trick - put your fingers in side a plastic bag and run your fingers over the surface of the paint. does it feel really smooth? if so no need to clay if not then clay (i would clay anyway)
The key to a great shine is the prep work
Have fun!!

kengpw-
no need to wash after the swirl removal, but i do usually wash after claying...
btw, you should not normally use dawn-
in fact you didnt need it if you did a swirl removal.
dawn is used cause it removes any type of protection on the car... and so will a swirl removal or any other type of polish.
dawn is a bit harsh (which is why its so good at removing product), so dont use it very often!

personally i would do the swirl remover then clay the whole car then re-wash. - are you guys using swirl remover on the whole car or just a few areas?
oh and for the lubricant for clay - no need to waste z6 just mix a few capfuls of car wash and water into a spray bottle and use that.
