3M Swirl Marks remover
Hi,
Do you know if 3M Swirl Marks Remover and 3M Perfect-It II Form Polishing Pad Glaze - Dark are the same?

i know it can be very confusing-
3m makes a swirl mark remover and they also make a glaze...
they are very similar products.
they make a hand glaze and a machine glaze- those are usually used on fresh paint and the swirl remover is more for your car! although i do sometimes do a swirl removal and then glaze the car if i think it needs more clarity (my recollection is that glazes have more oils than swirl removers) after the swirl removal.

and when i spend a bit more time on that site i can really see your confusion!!
they show a swirl remover as a glaze!!

The comparison chart from one of your link shows that Meguiar's Dual Action #83 is in level 6 (amber color) and the 3M dark #39009 is in level 3 (green). Does it mean that the Meguiar's # 83 has more cutting power than the 3M # 39009?

The 3M will get out your medium to light swirls, but what I find is that it leaves numerous very very small swirls. If you just use the 3M swirl remover, your car will look like it has tiny microscopic swirls because it is somewhat still abraisive. I find that owning a heavy rubbing compound, a medium swirl remover like the 3M, and a light to fine scratch remover like Meguiar's Scratch-X is a good combination to own. The fine remover (like scratch-x) will be necessary after a 3M swirl remover.

The new Zaino PC Fusion Paint Cleanser and Swirl Mark Remover is awesome! I used the 3M product in the past, but PC Fusion does a much better job. You will get optimum results this way:

I loves me some 3m swirl mark remover for dark cars! I use it with my PC and it works great! But does anyone know whether it really is a swirl "remover" or is it a swirl "hider or filler"?
Some folks here have mentioned that its actually a filler...can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

3m is a light swirl remover and i understand that it also does have some filler- so its a compromise.
the reason for this is (to answer lubedkoala) that a real remover does remove clear coat (small amount)- and you only have a certain amount of it. you would have to do a lot of polishing to take off the clear.
the 3m actually "sands" the edges of the swirl- this prevents the light from bouncing off of them so you dont see them any more. a heavier polish will remove enough clear to get to the bottom of the swirl. so a swirl remover is a compromise- but one that makes sense!
