just as with paint (actually even more important on plastic), you gotta be very careful with the heat build up from a rotary on plastic.

rotaries have the ability to burn paint and they can sure do the same thing to plastics...

random orbitals are a better choice on plastics imo. still gotta take it slower than paint and be careful.

On my WRX I actually used my porter cable and a blue foam pad with menzerna polish (whichever you'd typically use after SIP) and it brought back all the clarity without even having to do the sanding step. That car was an 04 so it wasn't that old but I feel like most s2k's will fall in the same category and don't require extensive correction.

Used this same exact kit on my S a few weeks ago. Super easy kit to use, and a great outcome. It does get a bit scary when your sanding down the headlights with 500 grit.

I recently restored my headlights but I can't remember for the life of me what I used. It was a cutting cream and some polish with a portal cable. The difference was night and day.

but the question i have is - do you have to use the drill or can you just use your hands and a cloth?

I live in the desert, and have an AP1. My headlights ended up looking like yours do in pic 3/4 (really not kidding).

I did them the other day with Plastex and a rubbing cloth by hand, and it came out after a while, they look new now
