Default 2 days of waxing... why am I doing this.

After 2 full days of waxing... I've officially lost my sanity...

Thus far I've done 9 layers of Z5.... 4 washes... 1 clay bar... and alienated myself from all family and friends.

The last layer of Z5 got kinda funky... for some reason there were LOTS of yellow dust particles from the buffing... although I know it's from the wax, the part that scares me is that some of the particles were fairly embeded into the layer and had to use a bit of nail(finger nail) pressure to get them out... at which point I decided I'll just wash the cars and be done with it since I was so damn tired.

I'm VERY VERY tempted to skip out on Z2 entirely... someone please tell me with 9 layers of Z5 it'll be ok?

I'd rather just drop down Z6 and do a good coat of Meguirs Carnuba.... and be done with this before I get an anyerism.

While it doesn't matter if you choose one over the other when it comes to Z2/5, most people have reported best results alternating the two from layer to layer. Also, don't forget to use Z6 in between each coat to enhance gloss, and smooth the surface ready for the next application.

That said, Z5 does seem a more thicker compound than Z2, making it slightly more difficult to remove. This applies to all of the many cars I have detailed using Zaino, and indeed, more recent batches of Zaino contain Z5 which is much thicker than before.

This all means it is critical to watch how much Zaino you are applying. When applied, it should be almost invisible to the naked eye. The more you apply, the harder it will be to remove.

Hope that helps!

I purposely didn't use Z6 in between because I wanted as much of the Z5 to have contact with swirls as possible. Going to do it as my final layers with Z6 and carnuba for a shine effect. The Z5 layer that gave me trouble was infact the thinnest layer I did very odd...

The batch I'm using is also about 7 months old. *shrug* oh well.

Hopefully not subject to cold temps? I'm sure that Zaino breaks down over time.

Yes you have lost your sanity! More than two layers is excessive especially if you will put Carnuba on top

i would not have used as many z5s...
(btw, this is completely a personal preference- no right or wrong)
maybe a couple z5s (my preference is one), a z2 (or two) and p21s would probably have been my goal-
and if i wanted more layers i would go with z2 instead of z5. z5 is better for the next time as the swirls start showing through. you should only need one z5.
if you are having to do multiple z5s to cover the swirls, or if you have to reapply too often, you are getting to the point of swirl removal time, imo.

Man, "9" layers in only 2 days?

I assume you're using the ZFX accelerator? I seem to remember the direction with mine stating that you shouldn't apply more than "3" coats in a 24 hour period?

Are your swirl marks gone, at least?

I gave in WAY earlier than you. I did 2 coats of Z5, with z6 in between, before I gave in and did the outer z2 coat. I did one coat per day, sat. - sun. - sat.

My swirl marks went down, I'd say 40% after one coat, and maybe 70% after two coats. It's hard to say now, because that was a month ago, and it's a new car, so they were not that bad to begin with.

I would do the last coat of Z2. But take a break, give it a few days, then do it.

You'll be good for at least a year if not more with 10 coats of Zaino on it!

They say 6 months for 1 coat, and 9 month for 2 or more. But with 10 coats, you'd prob be good for longer.
