04 MY Top Vinyl or Cloth?
Hi All,
My first post here Just picked up an '04 Black/Black S2K this weekend with only 1200 miles for an awesome price. My wife previously had a 00 Miata and the S2K is an amazing upgrade! I wanted to get some protectant for the convertible top as we move into our rain season. I used 303 on the Miata's vinyl top with good success. I ran some searches in this forum and it appears the general consensus is that the S2K top is vinyl. However, if the 04's top is vinyl they did an amazing job making it look and feel like cloth. I called Honda and they said it's "woven cloth". Did Honda change the top to cloth as part of the 04 MY changes? If anyone knows the definitve answer I'd greatly appreciate it!
Regards,
Tom

tom- welcome to the car and the club!!
even if you go back to the '00 shop manual they call it "convertible cloth"...
not sure why, but they use the term as generic.
the top is vinyl cloth!!
and its made of vinyl.
so your 303 will continue to be a great top product for you!

Thanks wanabe! Guess I'll just stick with the 303 for vinyl. Honda really did an amazing job making vinyl look like cloth. Especially compared to the vinyl top on our Miata.
Love your car's name coming from a fellow Berlina Black/Black owner

i've found the 303 application too labour intensive for less that optimal results
Apply it with a sponge, let is soak for a minute or two , buff it with a towel.
