I have an appointment with my implant dentist in Houston on Tuesday 23rd. I think that's when the two molar implants go in. I am riding to Houston on Saturday with my S2000 mechanic and Jeeping friend Curt Raulen.

+1 apparently has a tooth that cracked or broke and now has an infection. He's on antibiotics now and we go Monday to see the dentist. I have no idea what to expect in the way of treatment, but dread every bit of it since +1 has been on anti-coagulants for years and bleeds like a stuck pig. Further he has issues with swallowing (due to long term Parkinson's) so I'm a bit of a nervous nelly.

Got one of the new teeth today. The one in the front. And some bonding done to even the teeth around it. Looks really good. Hard to see any difference between the fake and the real. Took a long time but worth the wait. The back tooth did not fit quite right so the lab is redoing that one. Go back in a couple of weeks. Decided to have the top two front teeth evened out, so will have that done when I go back for the other.

well i got a quick and easy filling. no big deal.
or so i thought starting hurting a while after he'd done the work.
So yesterday I went to in and got a root canal. so much fun.
Upside he hit me with a ton of novacaine so generally not unpleasant experience.
As odd as it sounds, lying there with my mouth pinned wide open I fell asleep for a while.
wasn't much else to do and it was pretty ( no pun intended) boring.

an interesting twist I've noticed on my last two visits.
They had the insurance claim processed by the time I got to the desk to leave and had my balance available to pay right away.

This was a new one for me when it comes to a process of cleaning teeth. First they painted my teeth on both sides with a dye that turned plaque a purple stain. Then they used the above device to project a controlled stream of air, warm water, and very fine sweet powder to the teeth surface, concentrating where the dye was. Afterwards, there was still some hand scaling and water-boarding.

Back in the day, as kids, we were given a little packet with toothpaste, a toothbrush and some little red tablets. The tablets were for chewing and residue would indicate where we needed to improve on oral hygiene.
Years later as an adult, a dental hygienist tried to get me to take one of those pills before a cleaning. I told her thanks but no thanks. I am a dedicated flosser, I know certain areas of teeth may be subject to plaque buildup, but that's for them to figure out.
I decline the baking soda power wash on my teeth too. Can't stand the taste, if it gets too close to the gum line that's not good....
My request of them is the old tried and true. A scaling and polish.
We will see if my dentists introduces the new method you had on my next visit.

That would be really hard to do as a Do It Yourself cleaning . . . unless you were thinking of using for your dog.

BTW, my cleaning was $168.00.
