Taxachussetts ranked 9th with tax free day May 6th, that is horrible. But we still stay here because we love New England and Mass is one of the better states for jobs.

 

You're free to leave, if you don't like the total package. It's got to paid for somehow.

 

I payed way too much when I needed the income the most. Now, I don't think I and many other retired seniors pay enough. I'm willing to pay more, but I have zero confidence that my additional taxes will be spent appropriately. I suggest you read up on the AMT. I already knew that my home state - Ohio - is terribly mismanaged at all levels. I don't blame Ohio's citizens and employers for leaving in droves.

 

Compared to many (most?) nations, I think our taxes are reasonable or even low. My problem with our system isn't the total paid, but rather the manner in which the money is spent. But I don't think it will ever change -- special interest projects and pork barreling are here forever.

 

If you feel you aren't paying enough in taxes.... you're more than welcome to come pay mine!

State and federal tax $$$ are so terribly mismanaged that the 'return' on their 'investment' is worse than abysmal. Pick a topic.... pick a line item in the budget... name one where we are getting our money's worth.

....and, under our present system, it will NEVER change!

Peeay is actually #21....lower than most NE states.

I guess our fixed regressive State Income Tax @ 3.03% is part of the reason.....
