Oops forgot one from my mother, when on a car trip, and thirsty, we would hear;
"Thirsty? Lift up the seats and get a drink from the springs".

My dad used to tell us "I'd rather you do what I ask out of respect, if not, you will out of fear."

From my Mom:

Don't live for the neighbors, live for yourself.

Charity starts at home.

Don't say no to sex; when you get to be my age, you'll wish you hadn't (on the day before my wedding).

I can NEVER EVER imagine my mother giving that advice.

My mother used the starving kids in China often too. One of my favorites from my dad regarding the stock market " It's up and down like a well diggers ass! "

My father:

It's better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick.

This was used to encourage us to work hard.

After I'd done something that got my mother really, really mad she'd say, "I only wish that someday you have kids just like you."

My father would always tell me,"Never give up, never stop trying" and "You can do anything that you make up your mind to do."
