Default Is your cat a Houdini?

Vint's with cats, question for you. We've had our cat Annie for about 9 month's now. We adopted her from an adoption clinic and she is 5 years old. Each time she seems settled into a comfort zone- meaning she establishes all her favorite haunts ( her bed, a favorite chair, windowsill, etc.) for a month or two. So when shes not around you know where to look for her. Except she will suddenly turn into Houdini and vanish! We turn the house upside down looking- then she reappears out of knowwhere! Just like that her favorite haunts all change and she sleeps in entirely different places. Have any of you had similar experiences with your kitties?

No.

I thought you said your cat was not a Houdini!

That is not my cat.

Yes we have. One day I looked all over the place for one of our cats, she was hiding in the linen closet. Many years later, that is a favorite spot of our current kitty. She likes my closet, the guest bed, a few areas in the basement too. We put old blankets on the furniture down there and we'd see a lump under the blanket. She would manage to get underneath it!

Lainey, does she keep finding new favorite places?

No, my cat liked to be out where everyone else was and could sleep with a circus happening around her.
Only in her last days did she seek out a dark, quiet place.
(deep under my bed)
She knew it was her time.

Absolutely! They drive me nuts! And they always houdini when you need to make a quick exit to get some wheres on time. We always make sure we know where the cats are and do a headcount before we walk out and lo and behold the days when your late one goes missing

Yes, I miss her terribly. It's only been two months since she passed.
I cried for three days straight.

Did you have her for a long time?
