I cannot believe the cost of Super Bowl tickets. One guy paid 8K each for two tickets. He is taking his son. I would rather sit at home and watch the game and save some serious bucks.
The 50 yard line seats are $19,000 each. The nose bleed seats are $3,000. There are lots of people who have lots more money than we do but for some it beats a European vacation or whatever. TV, junk food, booze, no line at the potty, beats everyone of those seats as far as I'm concerned. A 30-second ad is $5 million.
Yup, we all cheat on SB sunday bur save a lot of $.

Face value on the tickets start at $850. When I went 10 years ago (XLII, Giants beat the undefeated Patriots!!!), face value for upstairs was $700. I paid quite a bit more for it (about 2500), and justified it by spending extra days between Phoenix and LA, making a vacation out of it instead of just 2 days. Since I was traveling, I wanted to make sure I had a ticket purchased beforehand. Oddly, if you going to a game during the season, and it's important. I'm not sure that scalping a ticket doesn't sometimes cost 3-4x face value. So it's not the %, it's just the number that increases for the SB.

I had a friend at work who went out with a bunch of people. They knew people in Phoenix, and were also planning on the PGA Phoenix Open. They all ended up going to the SB, found unsold/unscalped tickets that morning and went for less than face value. I guess it's all about the risk you can stomach.

I'll say this - it's now off my bucket list. It is seemingly more about the marketing and brand than the game. I figured either... I'd see the Giants win the SuperBowl live, OR, I'd see the Patriots go undefeated and change the history books. As a football fan and a Giants fan, one outcome would be better than the other, but both would be special. I've done it, can say I've done it, and unless something unusual comes up again in the future, never need to do it again.

I don't know about face value but those numbers come direct from CBS who are the station showing the game and they have been talking it up every morning.

I think the only way to actually pay face value is to win your teams respective lottery (10 or 20K tickets for each team) After the team dignitaries and such, the rest are usually raffled among all season ticket holders for the team. If you win, you pay/get tickets. I think the NFL also does a lottery each year for a small amount.

Then there's all the sponsors and such, and the team whose stadium hosts gets tickets, and my guess is many of them sell them and for big dollars.

This morning, it appears market value is still in the $3500 range for most tickets, with some asking for 10-15K+ for club level.

I have had to opportunity to watch all 49 of the prior games and my impression is one-half to two-thirds are not anywhere near as good as the playoff games leading up to the SB. They will never get any of my money.

Defensive game so far. Manning looks pathetic, Newton not much better, except for his running. I would put Osweiler in for the 2nd 1/2.

At halftime... seems like whoever has best defense in fourth quarter is going to win. Both offensives do not look too good.
