For you job hunters out there...

Well, the job up the street is still in the running, along with another one a bit farther up the street and another pretty close by. Just working the rate/budget, etc. Patience is a definitely a requirement when job hunting, especially in the contracting business.

I'll be placing an adv in the local AIA e-zine tomorrow for a Technical Director for our firm.....not really expecting to find anyone with the right quals
I just interviewed a bright young Architect Intern (Syracuse grad) this morning. Impressive portfolio but his suggested salary $ knocked the sox off the boss here Actually, it's no more than an entry level teacher or RN would be paid....

Looks like the current company has won out for now...new contract starting week after next. Not the walking-distance one, but still close by. Hope everyone else who is job hunting/working on a new gig is doing OK. Jonas included.

As for me, Fall Colors did wonders. I left work on Thursday doing what my avatar has been doing for the past year or so. There was one particularly sticky problem that was causing me grief. I came in Tuesday, however, and solved it in 30 minutes.
This week was the first week I actually got any programming done. It's all been fighting with the development environment up to now...
Another 6 months and I might actually start to feel comfortable with the new technologies...

Yes, sometimes taking a break is good. Or getting someone else to look at code or whatever. If you are too close to what you are working on, you can miss some obvious stuff. One time, years ago, I was new to a job and discussing a problem with my boss. I asked a question no one had thought of, simply because I was new and looking at the issue from a different perspective. It helped solve the problem.
