Default For You "Experienced" Owners - Need Some Advice

When I was down at Rock the Dragon this month, I noticed that the rubber gaskets on the convertible top, where the gaskets meet the door windows, are starting to come loose. The driver side is more pronounced than the passenger side.

Can anyone recommend the best way forward to correcting this? Is there a simple fix, or is the solution to go for broke and replace all the gaskets?

I am driving cross-county in 4 weeks for S2KDays, so I am going over the car with a fine tooth comb.

Well, I suppose you can try only driving in good weather --- with top down. Okay, okay... all I know is specific S2000 body and windshield gasket parts take awhile to get, from the dealer. When I redid my windshield, the ordered rubber parts came from Japan and took 2 months.

You may want to call around, first... before removing anything. Good luck with fix and trip!

Thanks. These are not the gaskets on the windshield, they are the gaskets on the convertible top, going around the door window.

Yes, I know. I meant to say that they will be Honda dealer parts. S2000 OEM ones may need to be ordered. Maybe source them first... their availability may not meet your deadline.

Wow, that link almost threw me off - - so fancy, and Honda like. Since I don't have an S2000 I've lost track of Jeff. Joe, if you read his "About" link at the bottom that should get you up to speed on a really great resource.

As an interim measure, you may wish to lightly lube up your soft top weatherstripping with Shin Etsu grease. It may be that you have not used it regularly (say, twice per year) on your rubber gaskets and weatherstripping. I apply it mid-summer and just before winter storage each year. It's great stuff. My rubber components look like new.
