WWII Bomber planes in our area
The city nearby is hosting a visit from WWII bomber planes.
Planes Visit the city
This afternoon I was at a light fixture store and I noticed a LOT of cars across the street near a cemetery which is right near the airport.
I realized these planes were arriving today, and these folks were waiting for them.
A little while ago, I think two flew over my house. The planes crossed paths and got so close it looked like they were going to collide.
I think a little ride in the S is in order this evening. Maybe I can get a few pictures of these planes. I'm also off tomorrow, so maybe I'll take the tour of them.
BTW, my Dad, a WWII Vet is buried in the cemetery which is next to the airport. He was in the Army Air Force, and though I know he's not really there, he could not have a better final resting place. He liked watching planes come and go, and this would thrill him.

I thought "WW1 bomber planes, woah!". But no, those are WW2 bomber planes.
Go see them. It will be interesting. I've been to the Collings Foundation headquarters and seem some of those same planes there.

I wish I was closer to that. I would be glad to pay to go up in one of those warbirds.
I have always been fascinated by anything that flies and in particular, the planes of WWII.
Yeehaa.... I just checked their schedule. Winston Salem NC in October. Yes, I will be there.

But you should probably edit the thread title - those are WWII bombers.
I just took a ride by. I've NEVER seen so many people at that little airport. Parking spaces were at a premium.
I may try to take the $10.00 tour tomorrow afternoon. My dad would have loved it.

They were formerly called the Confederate Air Force.

I had a ride in the B-17 while they were here in the Seattle area (Paine Field). It was surprisingly smooth-running. There is an open hatch in the top of the fuselage, about over the wing, where you can stick you head out - not as strong a wind-blast as I expected. You can wander through most of the plane (not to the tailgunner station) in the air. The view from the nose-gunner and bombardier area is great!
