Ken and I pre-drove this route last year to scope it out. The northern part of the Hell Bender is VERY nice. Back then the road was freshly paved and the lanes were wide. The road runs along the tops of the mountain range and the scenery on both sides is amazing. But the best part is that we drove for miles and only saw a handful of vehicles going in either direction. The Snow Shoe (Ski) resort has several restaurants to choose from. What we had discussed was giving people the choice of which one they wanted to have lunch at (allowing 90 minutes) before returning to our cars to continue the drive back to Summersville.
