Appreciate all the responses. They are pretty much what I expected of this group.
It looks like we will fall into the tacky category for a while...... I'm OK with that.

I kinda want to make up some fake ones, with fake candidate names and stick them in the yard to confuse people

"Political" meaning a campaign sign? No.
"Political" meaning something that someone will pretend to be outraged over? Sure! I can't help it that rainbows and "In this house we believe in science" signs offend some snowflakes.
edit: I mean, we're about 10 minutes away from the "Crazy Cat Lady" sticker above being "political", right?

No I wouldn’t. When I was a kid in the seventies the politicians used to drive around the neighborhoods in vans with loudspeakers and I don’t remember exactly what they would say but I do remember they would give us kids bumper stickers and we would put them on our bikes, being little kids we thought that was neat I guess.

I lived out at the end of a dirt road in the woods in the early 80's when I was that young. Politicians never came around out there, 30 miles from the nearest town! Sales people did not either!
