...Well you are collecting SS aren't you? That is for the senior population isn't it?
^^ Yes, I am collecting S.S., but I doubt that you will consider yourself "elderly" when you start collecting your benefit. I have no problem with the "senior" discounts I get, but being considered "elderly" is quite another thing...you young whipper-snapper!

BTW, I think the 40+ "suggested age" to be Vintage on S2ki is waaaaay too young! Forty is no where near being "Vintage." Perhaps that's why some in Vintage consider those of us 60+ peeps to be "elderly."

Yeah, my Mom may be considered elderly. She is 89. However, if you speak with her, she is just admitting to be middle age!!

Sometimes, I feel elderly, sometimes not. I start an aerobic dance class tonight. I used to attend years ago, and haven't done this type of thing in over 10+ years.

We'll see how old I feel at the end of the class this evening. I've got one knee that is a bit questionable since I fell in the woods early this summer. We'll see if this class helps it or makes it worse.

I suppose I had too many close calls when I was younger to become all that affected by the idea of being old. The closest I've ever been was when my oldest grandson (who has been watching reruns of the old "Dennis the Menace" television series on cable, evidently) told his mother recently, "Grandpa is just like Mr. Wilson." True as that statement may be, I still found it funny as hell. And given my rather colorful and eventful past, I embrace the idea. I'm looking forward to the day I can stand proudly on my front stoop, waving my cane angrily in the air, while yelling in my most curmudgeonly voice, "GET OFF MY LAWN, YOU YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS!!"

One can't fight the inexorable creep of senescence, so one might as well look it in the eye and acknowledge its company.

Think about this, more than 25% of all of the presidential administrations have occurred during our lifetime.

Bob Dylan is 70.

John F. Kennedy has been dead almost 50 years.

The war in Vietnam ended over 35 years ago.

Still don't feel old?

I feel old when I crawl (literally) out of bed in the morning, when my back pops for no apparent reason, when I get tired just from preparing my breakfast.

No. External things cannot compel me to feel old. Only I possess the ability to make that choice for myself. And I choose to feel fortunate that I continue to exist, rather than expending any time or effort in regretting the inevitable.

I am pleased to report that I don't feel older than I did yesterday. I went to my first aerobic dance class in 15 years last night. I had a blast and today I have very few aches and pains.

I think I discovered the fountain of youth. Aerobic dancing!
