Winter Driving Tips

that's a pretty safe bet. I love driving in the snow. I honed my driving skills over the years.
I may have parked it in a snow bank a few times Usually from finding unexpected traction halfway through pulling a J-hook.
Nothing is as much fun as a full on scandanavian flick under full throttle.
I do hate all of the electronic nannies now, can't go out and have parking lot fun anymore.
Nothing beats a lake of thick ice, you can spin forever.

I always liked driving in the snow as well. In the 3rd gen 4runner you can turn off traction and stab control by locking the center diff, but I did the "Andy mod v2" on ours so I can just switch them off with a switch In the 2013 tacoma you can just turn it off with a button press/hold. So plenty of snow fun in those!

This is a bit of a different situation. It is very irresponsible as well as dangerous for someone to be out on the road in a car that is not prepared to drive in a snow storm it is a good way to cause an accident. In addition I would guess that if someone can afford a brand new Mercedes than they could spring for some snow tires.

Robb, depending upon the Mercedes it may have had the wrong tires on for the circumstances.
Sometimes sport versions will have summer tires rather than all seasons.
I made that mistake once with my millenia, the tires had the traction of steel ball bearings.
I struggled and I do mean struggled to keep it in a straight line at 10-15 mph.
And that only had 200 hp with FWD not 500 with RWD.

No matter how sneaky I try to be about it, my wife always sees me pressing the traction control button when we pull out to go somewhere in the snow.... I can see her looking at me but wont look back and then she will just say "Really?" .... right before I say "yep!" and drift my way down the street lol.

When we had my FWD Mazda 626 I used to use the center console hand brake too help get the car to rotate on corners.
My lovely bride did not always share my enthusiasm for the maneuver. Especially if she hadn't been paying attention.

Again if you are going to come up to the mountains in November the responsible thing to do is to make sure that your car is ready for winter weather and I totally get it people may just be coming up here one time or it could even be an emergency situation say someone lives in Jersey and had a family member that lived here who needed help and they had to come up here unexpectedly my question would be if you are driving at 10 miles an hour and have a line of 20 plus cars behind you AND you pass at least 7 parking lots along the way were you can pull over why wouldn't you do the CONSIDERATE thing and pull over. As soon as they got into town they shut off the hazards and went 40.

Did you ever do reverse donuts with the FWD?
