Honda quality, convertible, price over my other options and ultimately the lines. It is a very sexy car. I find it far more attractive than the other roadsters out there that cost far more. And it has a trunk! I like that fact that it drives like a Civic around town but like "The Hulk" when he gets miffed, it turns into a stealth jungle cat at my command.

I had actually reached a point in my life when I "thought" it was time to grow up. I was going away from "toys" when my doctor discovered something that might have been REALLY BAD! It would take a week for the lab reports to get back. In that week, I decided life is too short to waste it doing stuff just to be "grown up" and responsible. Since I had just come from a list of big buck sports cars, I didn't want to go that route again. I really wanted a Civic on steroids. Well, guess what?
ps. The lab report came back in my favour but it taught me to never again bypass stuff that could be construed as irresponsible for my age.

I bought the S2000 because of my wife.

She initially wanted a Miata when they first came out. We test drove one but were not impressed with anything about the car and discarded the idea of owning it.

When the S2000 came out my wife was all over me to test drive one. I refused to even consider it after the Miata disappointment. She bugged me for over a year but to no avail.

While on a shopping trip I noticed an S2000 sitting on a car lot and thought "Why not let her test drive it and be done with it."

The rest is history. This is the first import we have ever owned and are quite satisfied with it. I still like my American Iron but I like my S2000 also.

1. The old Camry was about used up, so it was time for a new car. I was thinking seriously about a new Harley Davidson, too.

2. I saw the prettiest car one night while driving home from work. Whassat? A Honda?

3. I test drove a used 2002 at a local dealer. It's like a 4-wheeled motorcycle. I love it.

4. The children are in college, I have a pickup truck for when I need to haul something, M has a sedan for when we need to take more than 2 people. Life is short.

5. I found a little-used 2002 Suzuka, only 2700 miles, listed here at S2Ki at a fair price. I bought a plane ticket to Maine, bought it, and drove it to Ohio. Cheaper than a new Camry and H-D. Life is good!

Why did I buy a S2000?

1. Wanted a convertible
2. Wanted a reliable car
3. Wanted something more than a Miata

Thinking boaster and TT..........didn't like the BMW looks.

Neighbor brings over her red S2000 for a look. Brand new. Went for a drive. Wow.

Eliminated the TT with that drive.

Test drove at the Honda dealer. Saw the Yellow color on the web site and in the pamphlet. The idea of still having $15,000.00 in my pocket (boaster) was way too appealing after driving this car. And it's a Honda.....won't get homesick for the dealership!

So, bought the car sight unseen. Dealer found a yellow one in SF, I'm in San Diego. When car arrives to dealer, I sit my wife down after the kids go to bed. I confess that I have some news for her that I don't want the kids to hear. I tell her that I'm not proud of what I did and I probably deserve what is coming. And I tell her that it is going to cost some money to resolve, but I'll pay out of my personal account, I won't use "joint" money.

She sits down and looks at me with her eyes as big as saucers. I clear my throat and say (in a very perky voice) "I bought a car!"

After about a four second pause I get a glare that SPF 100 couldn't protect you from. I plead for forgiveness, because it was actually quite good news considering what she was expecting. Anyway, after a test drive with her, she came to her senses and admitted it could have been worse. And she admitted that she would have done all she could to talk me out of it. We have fun with the story now.

I don't think I've found a replacement yet (the car) that inspires me.

Cheers.--ml

This is a fairly long story but here goes....

It was early December and the lease on our third Honda Accord was about up so we went to the dealership to see if we would get another leased Accord or purchase the existing one. While sitting in the showroom we were awestruck by the '02 Spa Yellow S2000. But when my wife found out it didn't come in automatic she was less excited.

For the next few I kept on about what a neat car it was. So for Chrismas my wife bought me (don't jump to a conclusion yet) a 1/24 scale model Spa Yellow S2000 and announce I now had my S2000!!

So I dropped it for a few months until went to look at a Del Sol for my 16 year old. That guy also had a used MY2000 Silverstone he was selling for a great price and only 2600 miles. But we bought the Del Sol and decided that we were getting "car poor"

Since my son was not going to get his license for a few more months, my wife and I drove the del Sol up on the Blue Ridge Parkway with the Taga Top off. We really liked the performance and the open top.

So we found a Red MY2000 with 1300 miles. When we went into the guy's gararge there were cob-webs in the wheel spokes. The car had all the OEM ioptions and looked great. I think we could have made a good deal on taht car but the guy had left the top down for a long time in the garage and the plastic window was very badly hazed over. This was kind of a turn off. So my wife said ....

"Why don't you find a 2002 model with the glass window" Wow, TWIST MY ARM!! And I already new where there was a used MY2002 nearby with only 2300 miles. Oh yeah, it is Spa Yellow, exactly like the first one I fell in love with in the dealers showroom!!

Great car, FUN to drive, head turner, Honda quality, excellent performance, affordable, comfortable, covertable.... Plus we have a chance to meet lot's of other owners and have lot's of fun. Yeah I think I like this car!

Great looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong story Jay I read every word and loved it!

I wonder what ever happened to that creampuff '00 Red with the cloudy plastic window....that could have been a really terrific deal! OMG, the guy may never have been in VTEC

I have started to like the NF Red color more and more...as the classic and timeless sports car color! Unless one of the blues comes to the US, I think that my next S2000 may be THIS COLOR
