Who's your CELL phone company?

Morris, thanks for the clarification. I agree that the fair market value wouldn't be worth the bother of taking a write-off, I just thought it interesting and was curious why it wouldn't count.
Good job re your Mom. No problem with Dean's mom using up minutes -- between the two of them they avg about 4 minutes a month total.

I DID deduct a donation of 1-2 phones a couple years ago, but that was before they came up with the strict FMV rules....

....Why are my paranthetical c characters being turned into copywrite symbols?
Actually, I think it's related to your WP software and the settings for it

Given the wide range of opinions here, maybe I can get some help.
Does anyone know which carrier(s) support this phone?
I really, really want one, especially for the medical applications. HPH

Trying to be objective, the latest issue of Consumer Reports gives the top rating to Verizon
In shopping for new phones, we found that some phones have 1.5 watt antennas and some have 2 watt antennas. Kids often wondered why our old phones would work in areas that they called "Cell Phone Hell". The antennas were the reason. We made it a point to get new phones with 2 watt antennas. Last two sets were Nokia, latest pair is Sony/Ericsson. All had 2 watt antennas. Kids are cussing their "bargain" phones. Funny part is the Nokias were the basic free phones issued with the service. No fancy decorations, no flip open, no camera.

I know many people have work plans, but if you pay for your own, what do you have?
I almost always have the cell phone turned off. In fact, I lost it for two months and didn't even realize it until I finally needed it again. I only bought it because of an event a little more than a year ago when I missed a plane flight and needed to borrow somebody else's phone to call in and cancel the reservation.
99% of my not-in-person communication is via email.

I must be the cell phone king.
I have 4 phones with verizon on a family plan with 1000 minutes a month.
I have 1 phone and a wireless modem with verizon for work although the phone is about to be shut off.
I just got a T-mobile cell which work will pay for directly. of course this phone is a "shadow" microsoft windows based thing. rapidly learning to hate it. instead of hiding the operating system and making it work well as a phone you have to go through multiple windows to do anything. this makes the phone especially useful when your driving....not.
