I could have wished you all a good morning at 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM. This respiratory thing is a nasty one. Coughing kept me awake. Hoping today is the day the meds kick in and I turn the corner. I don't like being awake at those hours....I don't know how the night owls and early birds do it.

Thanks, Dave. Me too.

While I was up at 4:00 I ate a snack took my prednisione pills for today and took a little codeine cough syrup. Need food with those meds. I had sworn off that cough syrup in January when I got sick from it, but nothing is working. I even thought of taking a shower to get some moist air into me.

A little better today. I'm not a napper and I really need a nap! As they say, "this too shall pass."

Did the codeine cough syrup help? When Christa was a child, that was the ONLY thing that helped her. It was like pulling teeth to get it prescribed.

It does help. It's not easy to get it prescribed, as it's a controlled substance, but my doc is pretty good about it. One script will last me two years. I hate the stuff, but it works. Sometimes, the docs don't want to suppress a cough, but sometimes i just need sleep!

After calling in once when I was sick and asking for a prescription for the cough syrup, and being told by the nurse on duty that "we don't know if it's indicated in this case" I make sure when I see my own doc if I'm running low to ask for a script. I didn't really expect it to be prescribed over the phone, but she annoyed me telling me that. She could have told me she could not prescribe it without seeing me. She had access to my chart, she should be able to see what I've been prescribed. I've had asthma since I was in my 40's. I usually know what will work.
