Good morning all. Getting ready to take a bike ride on the 25 beautiful miles of trails which runs by our community. They run through shaded woodlands then end up along the ocean. 3 of my friends have been killed by vehicles in the last several years including a 50 year old wife and mother of 4. Her services are on Monday. Two were killed by distracted drivers on public roads and my recent friend Ashle was killed by an 18 year old girl which is still under investigation. This is why is why I only ride our trail. Delaware is the 2nd worst state in the nation for having bicycle accidents and fatalities. Florida is #1 and Florida is much bigger than Delaware. I had 2 accidents while riding public roads. I suffered a broken pelvis, hand and bruised ribs on the first one and a concussion on the next. The ER Doc said my helmet saved my life. There are no motorized vehicles on the trail. If you cycle please wear a helmet and be careful. RIP Ashle.

I agree Ray, there is just too many iPhone distracted drivers out there. My bike rides are limited to our subdivision which has very little traffic, often none, the times I go.

I agree. I rarely leave our neighborhood and I can get 6 to 10 miles with no trouble.

I can safely ride 25 to 30 miles and never leave the trail. Plans are to expand the trail another 15 miles so it will be a good challenge for me. I like to take long safe rides.
