Where have all the cowboys gone?

Problem is, you're on the wrong coast. The cowboy culture is alive and well out yonder, even if it ain't on that durn TV or the silver screen.
There are all kinds of cowboy fests out here. You can even ride the cowboy train.

Screw politically correct. We still have bad nazi's in movies but I don't blame the Germans. The bad Indians can be bad ones the good Indians can be good ones...GO TONTO.
I want to forget political correctness. I want HEROS AND VILLIANS
Rob I don't want military heros such as in big red One. I want Cowboy heros. I want kids playing Cowboys and Indians once again. I want ordinary people standing by what they believe.

Dean your missing the point. I want Cowboys. I want Cowboys. I want Cowboy values thrown at kids on Saturday morning. I want Cowboys on cereal boxes. I want to teach idealistic values to 8 year olds.
I want rid of political correctness. I want rid of childrens shows that promote mediocraty, that don't define good and bad. I want core value beliefs taught by Cowboys. I want them to know you feed your horse first yourself second. I want them to know it OK to be an American Cowboy.
I want toy guns in the hands of children and toy bow and arrows too.
I want them to grow believing in themselves and what they stand for. I want kids who know when it's time to stand up for right and justice.
I want PIONEER SPIRIT.
Don't you think it's time we put down this huge burden of guilt being laid on us by current social norms throughout the world? There's a reason America is on top. It's our heritage. I think it's being eroded away and I think it's time to stop the erosion and to make our kids proud of America's heritage.
I want Cowboys.

To those of you who don't understand what I'm talking about, you're the reason I want COWBOYS.

Hey flts, you know that was all fiction don't you?
I grew up riding stick horses in real sagebrush, with toy guns slung around my waist, killing my friends and being killed by them. I played good guy, bad guy. The first album I ever bought was a Jimmy Wakely record. I watched Davey Crockett and shed a tear when Fess Parker was killed at the Alamo.
Then I found out there is no Santa Claus. Worse yet, I vote Democrat in my adult life. Even if you get your cowboys back, you might not get the result you want.

Shoot first and ask questions later. We pretty much have that type of attitude now.
Are you sure you want to teach kids all of those old values?
Maybe just teaching them the difference between right and wrong, and perhaps a bit of old time respect would suffice. I'm not sure I'm ready to teach them to "Hang em high" just yet.
At the risk of being the contrarian, it's the jury that made America great, not the posse. Keep your cowboys, give me the Twelve Angry Men instead.

One of the 600+ channels I get is the "Western" channel. Never watched it once in many years.
I generally dislike cowboy movies and "Bonanza" and all that other western stuff.
The only cowboy movies that appeal to me are the old Clint Eastwood movies.
And the next head that calls me "Hop Sing" (granted that hasn't happened for a while ) is going to get a beatdown.

You bet smookee... I shot them up too. I ranched in Montana. There still are a few real cowboys out there.
Rob I still think you're missing the point. I want the spirit of adventure. I want the pioneer spirit too. Cowboys are just abstract enough to work. Look at the values in old Cowboy movies.. Clint Eastwood and spaghetti westerns wrecked all that. Those are your shoot first and ask questions afterward. Go look at Alan Hale movies or Hopalong Cassidy movies. They have great virtue. And you know what, if you don't on a basic level teach children that they need to stand up for themselves and their values in a good and positive way...well look around you,
Look at all the whiners and complainers. They blame everything on everything and everyone else. They expect to be coddled by their government and handed a free life. That's the legacy that liberalsim (or should I say Socialism whoops that's not politically correct) has left us. Our children grow up bearing a load of guilt that shouldn't be theirs.
Cowboys represent a free America, where you stand up against bad guys, you help the little guys yourself, you don't depend on the cavalry all the time if you know what I mean. I want the education of values and personal independence put back into America. I don't want my children or their children to become puppets lost in a socialsit sea of malcontent acceptance.
There has to be a middle ground. The pendulum seems to be swing back to the right and I want to ride it like Cowboy on a bronco. I want my kids and theirs to be self sufficient, unafraid of the unknown and confident in themselves and their sidekicks. I want them to tak pride in themselves and their nation and quit kowtowing to a world full of jealousy and hatred.
It's the only way our nation will survvie as a free society. Look at Europe. We still have an opportunity to reverse the decline in our culture.
WE NEED PRIDE IN OURSELVES. WE NEED AMBITION AND DEDICATION IN OUR ENDEAVORS!
WE NEED COWBOYS

No, flts, I understand your point completely. And to a certain extent I agree. We need heros who are really heros, not flashy pimps or wiseguys. We need to give our kids examples to look up to to inspire them to be self reliant, responsible, honest and to know the difference between right and wrong. We need to inspire them to have the spirit of adventure, and to not be afraid to explore and challange themselves and those around them. That much I agree on.
But we need to also give them a sense of fairplay, and we need to also teach them that winning at all costs in not always the proper way. We need to teach them that in their pursuit of greatness they need to respect those along the way. I'm not sure the Saturday morning cowboys that you long for did a good job of that. In their fantasy land, the good guys always won. In real life the good guys don't always win, and sometimes the good guys are not really the good guys.
But, I do understand and respect what you are saying. I too would like to see some good examples for our kids to learn from and follow.

Regarding fair play that's exactly right in Cowboy movies only the bad guys don't play fair. Cowboys alway did. The good guys never shoot anyone in the back. They don't steal. They respect their neighbors and help them whenever possible.
The good guys always win because they're right. The bad guys pretending to be good guys always get found out.
It's the lack of faith in our country and way of life that's been hurt in the last 40 years. I'll make an example. I had a friend in High School named Shahid Khokar. He was an exchange student from Pakistan. He loved Cowboys, he compared our frontier to the frontier in Afganistan where all the trouble is now. Shahid means warrior of god in pakistani. I've always wondered what happened to him over the years. I'm betting Shahid still stands with us. The world respected American Cowboys and the values they stood for. Cowboy movies were popular worldwide.
I'm tired of Internationalism. I'm tired of a world that says my society should be forced into economic decline because we've done too well. I'm tired of a nation that accepts mediocrity as the norm. I'm tired of belonging to a United Nations filled with despots who encourage the pillaging of American interest while they steal our donations in bribery and theft. I want people to excel at what that do. I want people who aren't afraid to strike out on their own. The entrepeneurial spirit in this country needs Cowboys. Pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps comes from Cowboys.
If we're going to keep the gains our ancestors and country have made in the last 200 years, we need Cowboys. We need people who go out in the world and reflect those values. We need to reinstill those core beliefs and take those examples of right and wrong and apply them.
We need to face our adversaries unafraid and secure in our beliefs.
We need Cowboys.
