That's medical and Rx only. Dental is another 107, I think.
But you do get to put $6180 of tax-free money in an HSA every year to help cover the deductible, don't you? And if you don't use it, you keep it in your HSA until you do use it for covered medical expenses.

I'm on a high-deductible plan where I work: single coverage, the deductible is 2400 or so. However, they cover recommended preventative care up front.

I've got about 11k in the HSA at this point, so the high-deductible plan has worked well for me so far, given the lower premium.

Both the +1 and I have good medical coverage at a reasonable cost. Mine is government (BCBS) and will continue into retirement. The dental coverage isn't great, but it's OK. I could buy additional dental (and vision) coverage but I choose not to. His is retired military. Plus he has some coverage via his current employer. We will probably keep them separate even if we get married. Works better that way.

Dean, you remind me of Dr. Kevorkian. I just finished his new book, 'I'm okay, you're DOA'.
That's a good one, Morris.

High deductible plans are not an option here in MA. Highest deductible you can have is 2K, or the plan does not meet "Minimal Credible Coverage" requirements. If your plan doesn't meet the requirements, you are subject to loss of tax exemptions and fines.

Mr. Romney did great things for us.

Best medical plan, EVA!
I think it's wicked pissah! In your face, Mitt Romney!

I have an equally ingenious and cost-saving plan in place for my mother's funeral expenses. It consists of my pickup, a Hefty bag, and a midnight visit to a McDonald's dumpster.

Long ago. I also told her what her longterm care would consist of, should the time ever come. I'm taking all her identification and dropping her off at the Sawgrass Mall to wander aimlessly.
These are tough economic times, so one has to be resourceful.

I think even Dr. Kevorkian was more gentle. . . . but then, I don't know your mom.

^ Maybe we should warn her. But she's probably got Dean's number by now.
