I get free health/dental insurance for myself at work. My wife gets her coverage at her place of work plus the children. It would be very expensive for family coverage at my work.

On a side note, we are getting two new puppies (standard poodle) this weekend and she is getting insurance for them through her work. We lost Chloe last week due to Evans Syndrome.

This may be a repeat poll, but a LOT has happened in the job market in the last little while.
I thought this poll looked familiar.

Until last June, I had private health and dental insurance (BCBSFL). Now I have health and dental insurance through my employer with another provider. I don't miss those $500+/month payments in the least.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I LOVE standard poodles. Should we ever lose BB, I'd like to have a standard. +1 would not be happy, but I would.

In Feb. 2008 I was paying $313/ month and it's now up to $452/month. Had they known they would be paying all but my $35 deductible, of the $1730 for my month supply of Enbrel injections they probably wouldn't have accepted me.
That's encouraging news for me... I'd pay $450 to keep what I have. I had high hopes of saving money on Tom's plan but looks like that ain't gonna be the case as long as he's where he is now.

You're probably right about the $1700 stuff

I'm self-employed, but have insurance through a professional organization, which in turn, is insured through Blue Cross. For just me and the +1, I pay 1,467.00 per month, and under my HSA plan, I have a 6,150 deductible.
That's medical and Rx only. Dental is another 107, I think.

I'm not all that shocked. But I do think it's almost criminal that you're forced to spend that kind of money on health insurance and with that large of a deductible, no less.
A sure sign that our healthcare system is terminally diseased.

If I had gone for the $10 copay plan, without the high deductible, the premiums would have been 3,572.00 a month. There are plans in between, but that's the top of the line, group plan.

I've been in shock! The premiums are pretty steep, and so is the deductible.

It's abusive!
