Wink When American cars had individual style

I love the automobile public relations department photos from the 50s and 60s. For those who don't remember, the companies produced stylish post cards for PR purposes and they sure worked. Kids and parents collected them. They were condensed into hardbound books that were sold annually. Such books were even done on an international basis with worldwide cars listed.

You never had to look at the badge to tell what kind of car it was. These cars had individual styling character that flowed out of every corner and nothing shows it better than this site. Enjoy.

Hey, Dave, thanks for that link. What a treat looking at the distinctly styled cars of the late 40's to early 60's!

Nice treat. During those days I knew most every car by year on sight. Sorry for no '56 Mercury convertible; one of my favs.

50s and 60s? Nah. Nobody had style like Duesenberg.

That 64 Mustang did it for me....still does. Is duplication not feasible? I know the PT Cruiser tried but......sorry, didn't do anything for me.

thanks for the link, dave....will bookmark it for later re-enjoyment!

i learned to drive on a 1960 dodge dart 4 dr sedan like the one pictured, except it was the base level Seneca model in a timid "robin egg blue"....225 c.i. six and 3 on da tree!

i also loved seeing the '50 Studebaker Starlight, which i also saw at the Studie museum in South Bend....just a year ago enroute to MT after SF 08!

Very nice pictures. Two of the cars I owned are listed . The 49-50 rocket 88 and the 55 super 88 sport coupe. Those two model year cars are the best Oldsmobile ever made in that period. You did not want to challenge either of those to a race with another stock car.
