Default What's the biggest life changing choice you made?

As the title states. What's the one thing that worked out or didn't work for you? Marriage, kids, job, ?

Joining the Navy made a man of me, and gave me the discipline and the resources I've needed to succeed. Easily the best decision I ever made.

Leaving the Navy when I did, while I was still young, and getting my degree/starting my career was the second best decision I've ever made.

Leaving the Navy when I did, enabled me to start my career in the airlines was the second best decision I've ever made.

Retired from the Navy, soon to retire from the airline. What a great ride it has been.

Moving to Idaho 12 years ago. We knew one family and that was it. We really don't see them now.

Leaving the Air Force when I did, enabled me to graduate from college and start my career. It was the second best decision I've ever made.

I'd say leaving my ex husband and moving from the suburbs to the city. Buying the first of two condos, which have been very good investments. Then meeting and settling down with the current +1 after nine years on the dating scene. Almost 12 years later, I'm still happy with those decisions.

Marrying my beautiful wife of 44 years. After my mother died a sudden, uexpected, and tragic death, I needed someone to hang on to. When I married Anne Marie I wasn't sure that I loved her. I quickly came to realize that I did.

It's funny how leaving everything you know and take for granted can either galvanize you into a self-sufficient, responsible, strong adult, or break you as it did to a few of my friends who "prepared" for the armed forces by doing years of ROTC, then washed out in boot camp.

I'd never trade me experience in the navy for all the riches in the world. I'm sure you gents would sympathize.
