Summer. Even though it can be too hot on some days, most of the time it is fine and I can go for warm evening cruises in perfect comfort. I think this probably has more to do with where you live than anything else.

Anytime when there is no precipitation, especially the solid variety.

This time of year is my favorite. Indian Summer on the California coast. Warm clear evenings and mild days. Leaves are changing color and no tourist in my area. All this makes for great conditions for top down driving. Summer is too crowded. Way to many people heading to the beach. Sun is a little intense when there is sun. The hot inland weather pulls in the marine layer May through August and sometimes into September. Late September and October are perfect.

By the way, if you ever visit the central coast of California, (Santa Cruz, Capitola, Monterey, Seacliff, Carmel) these are the best months to do so. The beaches are virtually deserted, the weather is the best, the roads are clear, the restaraunts are vacant and hotel rooms plummet in price.
If you decide to come here, PM me and I'll let you know the best places for the money to stay.

The soft top is not there to be put down on nice days, it is there to be put up when you have no other choice.

I voted for all 4 seasons. I enjoy it in the hot, and enjoy it in the cold, and I smile big time when it is down and I'm driving in a light rain.

I own a hardtop, and the only time it is on is when I go to driving school.

I voted for all of the above but after a heat stroke I can't have the top down in the worst heat of the summer. All year round at night and spring and fall are best but the winter is great also.

Some reviewer once wrote, "the storm better have a name for this car's top to be up."
I subscribe to that school of thought, and only raise it when it's raining steadily and/or temps are below about 40. I also need to take passengers into account, because most of them aren't as fanatic as I.
This car just isn't the same with the top up!

There is nothing like top down driving on a hot summer night.

While it takes an act of mother nature to make me put my top up if I have a preference it has to be the spring and fall. The spring is a great time to see the "greening out" of the trees and telling yourself that you have made it through another winter (I must admit TX is a lot easier than MN for winter). Fall is just beautiful and refreshing after the summer heat.

Of course those 1st warm days in the spring are extra special after a long cold winter.
