Can't you rent a plane real quick? Good luck with your change in plans. At least there is another ferry!

Just got home from the orthopedic surgeon's office. I wasn't sure when, but he says he's replacing my shoulder joint early tomorrow morning. Looks like a long weekend in the hospital with plenty of hurt!
Best wishes for smooth sailing, Jim.

Wow! This must be a real bummer for the locals....since that ferry is free and part of the NC highway system

Must also be doing a number on the Ocracoke fall tourist biz Will be looking fwd to your report on what you find, Gene

^^^Yep. No milk in the 2 grocery stores here, our upstairs neighbor who lives here fulltime said also no mail for several days. Luckily this is not prime tourist season. We don't have internet in our cottage, so I had to find a free wifi spot to check in once in a while.

BTW, the NC Ferry system is top notch. The 2 1/2 hour ride we took yesterday only cost $15, thanks to the NC taxpayers subsidy.

If you've never done it, Gene, charter a little boat to take you out to Portsmouth Island. We did this a few years ago....dropped off at one spot and picked up ~4 hours later at the other side of the island. It was an easy hike thru the deserted "ghost town" and low dunes I think that we took a picnic lunch along in a backpack

Back in the day, it was a busy little outpost but then taken over as part of Nat'l Seashore in the later part of the 20th cent. IIRC, the last "grandfathered" occupant died in the 1990's or so?

This was my excitement for the weekend... (cross posted to "did our cars meet before us").

Pictured is John, the new owner of my beloved original Silverstone I told him about the vintage forum and hope he will visit here to say Hi!

Would like to go downtown and do some stuff, have dinner this long weekend, but the Metro is undergoing some major work and it will make travel on the subway a mess. So...it's a cab or don't go.

Not too much going on this weekend....that is a good thing. I need to rest up after being up until the wee hours with the NE gang this past weekend.

Long weekend here, perhaps it will be time to get a few things done around the house that I've been putting off.
