Thank you from a family that has been deeply affected by this insidious disease.
I would like to dedicate my ride to your family. If there is anyone in particular please let me know. Our goal is to raise 1 million dollars.

Just got home from the orthopedic surgeon's office. I wasn't sure when, but he says he's replacing my shoulder joint early tomorrow morning. Looks like a long weekend in the hospital with plenty of hurt!

Best of luck with that, Jim! (our bionic man) Hope your recovery is swift and that you'll be shifting gears in the S soon.

Hoping your new "mod" goes well. Heal quickly and check in when you can.

We'll be thinking of you.

Well, just found out some semi-bad news. Ocracoke is only accessible by ferry or private airplane. I just checked the NC DOT website and the ferry we would be using (from Hatteras to Ocracoke) is not running due to excessive shoaling in the inlet. They don't know when it will resume running.

It's not all bad, as there is another, more southern ferry that is still running, but it's quite a bit out of our way, plus it's a 2 1/2 hour ride vs. 45 minutes on the suspended ferry. I was able to get reservations on it, but it means changing our travel plans, so not all is lost.

It's times like this when I wish we still had our airplane. (We've flown down there many times, and a 10 hour driving trip is only 2 hours by plane!)
