It's taken me a while for this to sink in: SWMBO is always right. Unfortunately, every now and then I need a refresher whack on the head!

I might be furniture shopping. I tried to finalize the deal yesterday on the couch/loveseat I had selected, but I felt I was getting a bit ripped off. Long story short, the manager adjusted a whopping $40.00 off the total, which only matched their on line price. So I ask, "where's the sale?"

The manager also kind of insulted my intelligence in telling me they could not discount the delivery cost or the fabric protection, because they sub out the delivery and have to buy materials for the fabric protection....yeah, so the store eats parts of the cost.

I looked quickly at a local place. More reasonable prices, less delivery charge, no extra charge for ordering contrasting fabric on pillows, a little more shopping is in order. ICK.

Lainey. You might also try this North Carolina furniture dealer: Boyles Furniture

We bought our living room sofa from them and felt we saved considerably, even paying the delivery charge. There is another super furniture store nearby: Furnitureland South If these two stores don't have what you're looking for, it's probably not available.

Worth a click, anyway.

Thanks, Gene.

When I bought our bedroom set, I had looked into NC furniture dealers. A local store ended up matching that price.

The markup on furniture is well known. I know they all need to make some $, but I don't want to be ripped off.

I need to "test drive" the couch, so to speak. At 5' tall, I can't have a couch with seat cushions that are too deep. It's just doesn't work.
