One interesting aspect of the trip was seeing pecan groves.
the harvesters grab the trunk of he tree and shake the bejezus out of it until all of the nuts fall off.
They then use big street sweeper broom like things to collect all of the nuts off of the dusty dry ground.
You can see the dust clouds from this for miles.
and for all you wash and wax whackos, the cars everywhere are just filthy from dust settling on them.

We were up around las cruces and out in the desert.
So the elevation at the pass is 5900 ft. so it's a high alpine desert.
most of the week was low 30's upper 20's at night and upper 60's during the day.
it got rather windy during the day most days but wednesday it was wicked.
lot of dust and crap in the air.
I'm not one to easily throw stones since I'm not exactly a petite but....
on the flight back El Paso to Dallas, I got a sumo size moose stuffed into the seat next to me.
He had to run 450 lbs. can you say seat belt extension?

That must have been a very tight fit, next to the large guy. I am always relieved when I sit next to average sized people on my flights.

The +1 is coming back with his kids from the wilds of NJ on Sat - leaving 26" of snow! Well, maybe less, since it has melted a bit. The kids fly back to FL on Sun. Just found out my other fave aunt died yesterday (in Virginia Beach) - she was 95. So need to see about the funeral arrangements and whether I can go. I know my mom is really sad. She was closest to this sister.
