I'll be wrapping and boxing gifts for shipping. Planning on getting everything shipped out of here on Monday. I only have to ship 3 boxes so I should be good to go. Still got a little shopping to do for one of the boxes but after that I'm home free.

Just added set up new PC and washing machine shopping to the weekend activity list. Our 18+ year old washer was making some clunking noises. I know there were issues with the agitator, and I'm not putting any more $ into it.

The washing machine shopping is relatively painless. I called the local appliance store, if I buy today, they will deliver tomorrow. I'm going there at lunch. I'm a buyer of plain Jane appliances, so the CC should not take too much of a hit.

I hope to play with the PC tonight, or maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Exciting!

I buy plain janes when it comes to washers and dryers. Couldn't care less about bells and whistles as long as they do a gentle cycle and a tough cycle. I do like a timer on the dryer that beeps several times when a load is ready for removal, but my 25+ yr old dryer does quite well and has only had to be repaired once. If my washer and dryer were visible (like in my kitchen, etc.) then I'd be a little more picky but I like mine fine and will replace them with similar items if they ever die on me.

We're finally heading out to Nights of a Thousand Candles shortly. The remainder of the weekend will consist of buying a few odds/ends for Christmas and then we'll ship the stuff we have to ship on Monday.

Lainey
for whatever it's worth, we went with the bigger LG top loader with the clear top.

LG 4.7-cu ft High-Efficiency Top-Load Washer (White) ENERGY STAR
Item #: 452006 | Model #: WT5070CW

Barb _l_o_v_e_s_ it

At the time I think home despot was $100 cheaper than lowes.

I'm not a good shopper at all. I did about five minutes of research, none of it worth .02. Went to the appliance store. They sell the Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana....I liked two. Top loaders both, one had the typical agitator, one had the impeller (?) type. I liked that one. Looked like loading it with the larger items, like a comforter would be much easier. It's an Amana, maybe that's the lesser model, I don't know, but I'm really not that picky. 3.8 in size I believe. High Efficiency. Tomorrow afternoon I'll be back in the laundry business.

The +1's art class party last night was nice. Good food. Everyone brought a painting for a mini art show. Some very talented people!! Making my famous chicken gumbo today, by special request. Other than that, should be a fairly quiet one. Preparing to start my job for real on Mon.

Nights of a Thousand Candles was great. We only went through a few gardens, but enough to see most of the new stuff they put out this year. B E A U T I F U L!!!!! After we walked a bit, +1 was getting weary, so we called it a night. It was beautiful though and I'm really proud of him for trekking out. Temps were in the 40s but it WAS getting rather chilly, so I was not disappointed at leaving without walking for hours.

Yes, we are yielding our snow to the north and west. Just some rain in the forecast. The big trucks have just crossed the Memorial Bridge with the wreaths destined for Arlington Cemetery. Volunteers have been walking down below from the Rosslyn Metro station. It is an amazing event - more than 110,000 were placed last year.
