What are you doing this coming weekend?

We've got the weekend to ourselves. We've got some shopping to do.
My cousin is of the opinion that every guy needs a suit/dress clothes/shoes that are in good shape, fit properly and that the guys should try this stuff on once a year, even if their current life style doesn't require that type of clothing. We have not followed her advice, and now it's time to do some shopping, as Rick needs some proper clothing. Rick never wears shoes, only sneakers, and the last time he had the occasion to wear shoes, the sole actually separated on his very old, rarely worn, still looked like new shoes. We did have a few about that at the table at the wedding we were attending.
That wedding was over a year ago, so we're past due to do some shoe shopping and he also needs his suit jacket tailored.
I dress very casually for work, so I need to do a bit of shopping too.
How very boring our plans are. I think maybe we will have to stop at the local pub for some to liven up this excursion. Maybe we should drink first. That could make shopping a bit more fun.

Well. not going to the Frosty Balls drive after all. Decided to keep 'em warm, by attending the dedication ceremony at our hidden gem, the AMC Museum at nearby Dover Air Force Base, for the only C-5 that will be on display at any museum. I was honored to be there when 014 flew in back in August on her last flight. Now, she will join the other great aircraft that are on display here, which, by the way, are limited to only those who were ever based or flew here. We are also honored to have the last retired Air Force 2 here as well, and I was also present when she flew in for her last flight:
Arriving with the traditional water cannon salute:
Our current VP flew on this aircraft, as well as the current first lady.

My son, Nick, is flying in from Rica today for an MRI and second opinion on his ankle, He tore some high ankle ligaments while playing soccer, and is now on crutches. We are hoping he doesn't need surgery.

I hope not, too. Good luck, Nick!

Good Idea to get him home. The islands aren't exactly known as centers of excellence when it comes to sports medicine.

We replacing the crappy, falling apart, formica counter in the bar area of the great room.
My wife was reluctant to have me do the counter removal..... but what the hell, I couldn't sleep.
quietly finding tools: 5 minutes.
unhooking faucets: 0 minutes
finding more tools: 3 minutes
unhooking faucets: 4 minutes
unhooking drain: 1 minutes
releasing sink bolts 4 minutes
coffee break 5 minutes ( if you want professional results, you have to work like a professional. )
removing first side splash 4 seconds
removing second side splash 4 seconds
lifting the counter that wasn't
actually attached to anything. 2 minutes to lift away.
whatever adhesive they used when they put this together had clearly reached the end of it's functional lifetime.
maybe I'll go wake her up and collect my payment for services rendered.....
or not.

Sorry to hear about Nick's ankle. Hope he doesn't need surgery.
Sounds like you've been a busy boy, Jerry. Getting our jeep back from the detail shop today. Hope the wax job is what we expected. If it is, I'll be sending my volvo out for the same service soon. Otherwise, we're just puttering around here this weekend (as usual).

I think I might have to break down the box pile today.
I've made it a habit since back in my hi-fi retail days of saving the packing material on bigger electronics purchases.
This was handy when my onkyo had to go back to manufacturer for repair.
Over time however, the pile can get kind of big and periodically I have to decide the value of unit and if I would repair it.
that old monitor? toss it.
maybe Lainey can come help

Jim, I'm waiting to hear how it all turns out for Nick. He was playing soccer in Costa Rica? For who? School or club or?
Jerry (Bolt-on Blue), I always love to read your posts. Every one of them.
Oh, and what are the plans for that counter now?
