Heading to Ikea to look over some furniture for the new house. And sorting out all the stuff in this house for my kids to come get.
Rori and I are looking to furnish and decorate the new place to feel like a very casual summer cottage on the Maine shore.
My biggest outlay, I think, is going to be about $3k for a pair of custom cherry and leather recliners ordered from Chilton's of Maine.
My doctor tells me I can't retire to Maine, so I'm going to do everything I can to bring Maine to me.
I also have a realtor-home inspector coming to look at this house today or tomorrow to figure out what needs to be done before putting this house on the market. It looks to be an interesting day.

Good luck, Dean!

^ Thanks. We spent the afternoon at Ikea yesterday, and it was about what I expected. We can furnish the entire house with furniture, while keeping very few things from this house, for about $3200. However, the custom recliners from Maine I want are also going to cost nearly that much for the pair, including the delivery charge to get them down here from Freeport, ME. Oh well, I'd just squander the money on strippers and crack, anyway, so I'm probably going to get them.

I was very recently made an offer on a house in The Villages that I couldn't refuse. My current house will be going on the market in the fall. At 2500 square feet on a 2 acre treed lot and a pool it's just becoming too much to maintain, and Rori and I only use about half of the house.
The house I'm buying is a CBS courtyard villa that's about 1400 square feet, not including the attached garage. The entire lot is enclosed in a seven ft. tall CBS wall. What I like most about it is that the original owner had ALL the sod removed from the yard and had the entire lot paved with brick colored pavers. Sort of like cobblestones. It's a very quiet area, but it's also very close to shopping, restaurants, doctors, etc..

Very nice. I can already see a golf cart with a sail cloth top and black wheels parked on the cobblestones. For reasons of safety in the Villages; if you are not in a golf cart you could get run over at the mall!
