^^ I agree. I think most super car owners - at least the ones I see at the track - are long on splendor and monies -- and low on driving skills. A lot of the people that I see having the most fun at the track are driving Spec Miatas!

Sounds like a great trip to and from. We have some very good Tex Mex and Mexican restaurants in Houston, too.

This weekend is only half over for me. My treat last night was the club's regular square dance. We started out with 7 or 8 squares, which is pretty good for a "normal" weekly dance.

Then today, I'm seeing an Arizona Theater Company production of Freud's Last Session. I have an extra ticket if anyone is interested.

A long time business associate and friend flew in yesterday. We went to a Tapas Restaurant with him last night and tried everything. MMMM good. Tapas and Estrella works for me.

We did a little business with him this morning and then went car shopping. Spent a lot of time looking at this
I low balled it but I doubt they'll take my offer.

We have to drive a couple hours for Tapas. Always good stuff. As for a $1/4M McLaren, it is not something I'd feel comfortable wearing; guess I be common folk.
I think if I had to funds to comfortably procure such a vehicle, it would still be a car and I'd still drive it as such.
I'd likely do the same test as I did when I bought the S2000 and walk into the dealer with a bag of clubs and make sure it fit long driver and all.
There is a guy in NYC wo uses his McLaren F1 as a commuter vehicle. He a hero in my eyes.
I suspect the biggest problem I'd have would be retaining my operators license when zipping along at a 100 isn't much more than a muscle twitch away.
it's also a relatively difficult vehicle to discretely blend back into traffic after said muscle twitch.

That's very true. Most of the exotics around here are dream cars that don't get driven. Many of the ones for sale were owned by older people and are on consignment from their estate. I haven't been on a track since my chicken split. If I do buy an exotic, it will be a garage queen. I've been looking for a couple years and haven't sprung yet.

Money aside, I suspect most modern cars, especially pricey ones, isolate the driver too much and take away from the driving experience. I could be wrong. I don't get to drive exotics. I know my Audi has me so isolated that even my wife says 'It doesn't seem like you are even going fast at 80 mph.' It makes for a great long distance travel car and that's all I use it for; otherwise, it sits. I do think Spec Miatas and Mini's and the like are BEST....along with of course S2000s.

I think this is especially true for cars designed to run at 150 or more with very tall gearing.
at "normal" cruising speeds of 60-80 or even at a 100MPH most of the engines are barely off of idle.
My wife's S430 is turning something around 2600 rpm at 80.
