Patty, thanks, but I was not the wood stacker. I'll pass along the compliment to him. My friend owns about 15 acres of mostly wooded property, and the wood we split came from 3 trees on his property that were blown over in a wind storm: 2 cherry trees and one gigantic oak. He has a wood burning stove that he heats his house with, using the wood we split. He does cover it to protect it from the elements. Like Jerry MA said, it's more fun slogging through the snow to access the wood pile. Luckily, we don't get that much snow here.

Patty,

Here in the East we have these things we call trees. Most of our wood comes from those while a small amount comes from either Lowe's or Home Depot.

This weekend is our helping out at the Marine Corps Marathon on Sun. The +1 has run it a few times, but the last four years or so, we've been working the Rosslyn Business Improvement District booth, handing out promotional material for Rosslyn and chatting up the attendees. It's always fun and busy!! The BID is another place I've considered "working" after retirement.

The +1's son is spending the weekend with us. Get him away from the college routine for a bit.

we'll be admiring painted body parts all weekend and swimming in assorted alcoholic beverages.

The theme this year is Zombie Aconcholypse. Beware the ZOMBIE BOOBIES!!!

Life is good in paradise.

Hmmm...looking like Sandy may put a damper on the Marine Corps Marathon on Sun. Lots of wind and rain. Maybe it will start later in the day. At least the +1 isn't running it this time!

The +1 and I are off today for appts, but looks like part of it will be preparing for Frankenstorm, which hits here Sun/Mon in whatever form. Take some ice and stuff to my mother's house. Power loss is the big concern for us. The storm we had in late June was just awful. My mother lost power for about five days. I'm really hoping this isn't as bad, but it could be worse. If it is, our trip to AZ next weekend is probably off. To be cont'd...

We'll be doing storm prep today. Going to get ice, grocery shop and batten down the hatches. Rains/wind, etc. are expected late tonight and then we'll see how it goes as it moves up the coast. No direct hit is expected but we do expect a lot of rain, high winds and very high tides.
