Busy weekend. Family time. Saturday evening is a gathering at my sister's home. My local siblings, Mom, my son and his children (his wife is working), and some cousins will be there.

It will be fun.

Sunday is our early Christmas with the son and his family. Mom will join us as will one sister and brother in law. No fuss, no muss as far as food, pizza and salad will be served.

Hope the grandchildren like their presents. I shopped with

My son got new tires for his car for his Christmas present. Since I didn't plan to wrap them, or put them under the tree he has his gift already. I took the grandchildren shopping and let them pick out a few small presents for their Mom and Dad to put under the tree so they would have some gifts to open too.

You're welcome. Lucky guess.

Well, I survived the craziness last weekend. My ex brought me some plants he had in his apt, since he moves back to Argentina on Jan 5. One of them is the offspring of a plant we bought in 1972 in FL!! A Dracaena. Amazing...

Wow, Deb. That is amazing. I think its wonderful that you and your ex still have a good relationship. I'm also glad your home is returning to the zen zone.

Guess the ex has a green thumb, Deb. I have plastic plants that would not survive that long.

Family weekend. Ready for the celebrations. Need to do some grocery shopping. Rick will make a nice anti-pasto salad, and we'll order pizza. I'll grab a fruit platter for something healthy for the kids to nibble on. Ally will eat salad (hold the lettuce), but Ryan is still quite picky.

My wife has kept our son's plant from grade school, 5th grade if I remember right, going for a few years - he's almost 40! But, I can be certain if that plant was from an ex it would have died on the vein!

Nah...we're still friends. Dying on the vein sounds interesting, though.

Got through last weekend in one piece. The +1 is doing all kinds of stuff preparing for his son to start college at GMU on Jan 23.

This weekend is Christmas, of course. Christmas Day should be fairly quiet with my mom. We are having lunch on Fri at a nice French cafe near the White House, then walking over to see the Christmas trees there. Sat evening is our traditional Christmas Eve dinner at the Tabard Inn, a lovely place downtown near Dupont Circle. Maybe I'll call that limo guy to give us a ride home again in the Maybach! The +1's kids arrive on the 26th to head up to NJ for a week with the grandparents. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Same here. I'm going to try to prepare a nice Christmas lunch for us to share with our daughter on Christmas Eve. Since my foot is a bit of a problem, I'll do a little on Christmas eve and the rest on Christmas morning. Looking forward to having Lora and my granddogs over. I'm thinking the menu will be mostly things I can just put together Sat and put in the oven on Sun, but we will have spiral sliced ham, baked mac & cheese, yams and green veggies. I think that will just about do it and will be simple enough. We'll probably pick up dessert from the bakery later in the week.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
