Damed hospital again for me. Hangover deficits from a long ago bicycling accident. Bone fragments in left knee make walking impossibler and impossibler, so I go in Friday for a knee replacement. Home on Monday, I guess. Dean, any helpful suggestions for rehab? I think rehab on this kind of knee replacement surgery is maybe not so bad.

Our weekend will be much milder....helping to move our son from Logan Circle in DC to a new place in Takoma Park on Sunday; still inside the DC border but almost into MD. Unfortunately his job and another prospect are in Arlington and even out to Reston....not a good route for time-efficient commuting
We'll be at our cottage for most of next week until we drive up to Boston to do....guess what? Helping our daughter move to a new place in Rockport MA Luckily, neither of them has yet accumulated a LOT of furniture and "stuff"....so it shouldn't be too bad.

We'll be standing hurricane watch here in Delaware Saturday night into Sunday. Latest forecast puts it pretty close to our shore. S2KRay could get hit pretty hard, since he lives at the beach. Here's hoping that everyone comes out OK.

Our weekend plans now include securing anything outside, removing some stuff, covering the Honda and parking it away from the neighbor's trees, and hoping the half dead pine tree in the other neighbor's yard does not land on our roof.
Picked up fresh batteries, a bigger flashlight, bottled water, filled up the car and have some $ on hand. I'll organize a few papers with important info, and we'll hunker down on Sunday.
Not looking forward to this. Keep hoping it blows out to sea.
The last hurricane that did extensive damage was Bob in 1991. Boats were tossed up on land like bathtub toys.
The thing with hurricanes vs tornadoes, is that is a longgggggggggg event.

The path of Irene has shifted a bit to the west. This is good news. It could be a Category 1 when it arrives, or hopefully, just a tropical storm.

I can't believe how long I've been absent from S2KI. I have been deep, deep into training for a bicycle ride from Greenville, SC to Austin, Tx starting on October 17 to raise $200,000 for cancer research. We will be about 30 riders, divided into 5 teams, and ride in relay fashion round the clock for 4 1/2 days and 1400 mile total miles.
If you want to know more, go to www.p3ride.org and see what it is all about. If you want to help, please click "Donate" and select "Martin Remick" from the rider list.
So for the next 3 1/2 weeks, I am pedaling, pedaling, pedaling -- and I have found that I am not equipped with VTEC!
