Good luck on a SPEEDY recovery Jim

Good luck on the surgery, Jim, and best wishes for a speedy rehab.

Our weekend will be much milder....helping to move our son from Logan Circle in DC to a new place in Takoma Park on Sunday; still inside the DC border but almost into MD. Unfortunately his job and another prospect are in Arlington and even out to Reston....not a good route for time-efficient commuting

We'll be at our cottage for most of next week until we drive up to Boston to do....guess what? Helping our daughter move to a new place in Rockport MA Luckily, neither of them has yet accumulated a LOT of furniture and "stuff"....so it shouldn't be too bad.

We'll be standing hurricane watch here in Delaware Saturday night into Sunday. Latest forecast puts it pretty close to our shore. S2KRay could get hit pretty hard, since he lives at the beach. Here's hoping that everyone comes out OK.

Our weekend plans now include securing anything outside, removing some stuff, covering the Honda and parking it away from the neighbor's trees, and hoping the half dead pine tree in the other neighbor's yard does not land on our roof.

Picked up fresh batteries, a bigger flashlight, bottled water, filled up the car and have some $ on hand. I'll organize a few papers with important info, and we'll hunker down on Sunday.

Not looking forward to this. Keep hoping it blows out to sea.

The last hurricane that did extensive damage was Bob in 1991. Boats were tossed up on land like bathtub toys.

The thing with hurricanes vs tornadoes, is that is a longgggggggggg event.

Good luck to you, Lainey. We'll be doing some of the same. Looks like you may get more of a direct hit, though.

The path of Irene has shifted a bit to the west. This is good news. It could be a Category 1 when it arrives, or hopefully, just a tropical storm.

Good luck with the ride. Hope you have support personnel along the way. I am doing my 12th MS Bike to the Bay in a month to help raise funds for MS. The goal for the event is 1 million. Our team was the 3rd highest fundraiser last year. Stop in at Mellow Johnnys in Austin, great shop and it is owned by Lance.
