we spent 3 days with our old friends in a little tiny town west of Zurich, and then headed to Italy....meeting up with our travel friends again in Parma (cheese, ham) for an overnite..then on to Assisi. although we are not Catholic, we enjoyed all the history of St. Francis and the wonderful hill town that sprang up after his life in the 1200s. two nights in a great small hotel overlooking a 20 mile Umbrian view...parking in a courtyard among olive trees! oh, our rental in a Fiat Bravo black 4 dr...6 speed and a 1.7 L engine....guessing it's a turbo as the zoom factor is pretty good.
from Assisi, we drove via Montepulciano (great wine town) to Greve in Chianti.....HQ for these next 9 days. first two nights in a hotel on the town square....overlooking the best market in Tuscany on Saturday morning...fun to buy belle producci right from the growers. our other 4 friends arrived on June 4 to start our 1 week farm/villa stay. it's a beautiful old home that's been modernized and expanded into 8 separate apts with 1 or 2 bedrooms + living areas both indoor and outdoors....overlooking ACRES of vineyard and olive groves. Greve is a great location...midway between Fierenze and Siena. during the past 5 days we have made day trips to San Gimignano (twice), Florence(crowded) and Siena today (great sunny day). a highlight was dinner with a local family on Tuesday in the tiny hilltop town of Montefioralle (google it)....priceless time with a 40something son (speaking good english) and his 60something parents (no speaka da englese) this day (Friday) will be spent in relaxing and enjoying our local town (2 km away from the "agriturismo") and the residence, which includes a nice pool overlooking the vineyards. we depart on Saturday morning to head north for the last days of our trip....returning on June 16....flying from Zurich again...via Toronto to Philly.

I've got to remove some sort of fungus that's growing on the siding on the north wall of the house tomorrow. Some bleach and quality time with the pressure washer should take care of it.
Unfortunately it's growing on the second floor.
Probably just vegetate after that chore.
